Friends of The Collegiate Chorale
For more than 60 years, The Collegiate Chorale has been a prominent force in the musical life of New York City. Founded in 1941 by legendary conductor Robert Shaw, The Chorale takes its name from its first home—the Marble Collegiate Church. Throughout its rich history, The Collegiate Chorale has performed under many world-renowned conductors, collaborated with the finest orchestras and guest artists, created top-notch recordings and performed at major concert venues in New York City and abroad.
Today, The Collegiate Chorale makes its home at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, but its impact goes beyond these acclaimed venues. The heart of the Collegiate Chorale is its core of singers, who provide a close connection to the community in which we live. Avid and enthusiastic, refined and fully-committed are just some of the adjectives used to describe their experience. The Chorale's outreach and free tickets for school groups develop new audiences. Its programs for high school students encourage new generations of aspiring singers to participate in the full spectrum of the vocal arts.
By joining the friends of the collegiate chorale, you will enjoy a wide range of benefits designed to make your concert-going experience more enjoyable. Your generous gift is essential to make possible the many concerts and outreach programs that comprise The Chorale's New York season, including choral classics, operas-in-concert, special events and education programs.

as Music Director in 2005, invites you
to join him in realizing his
artistic vision for The Chorale.
Through their annual support,
Maestro's Circle members play an
important role in underwriting our concerts
at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center.
OPERAS-IN CONCERT
Hearing great singers performing with a world-class chorus and orchestra at Carnegie Hall is an exhilarating experience. Operas-in-concert give listeners the freedom to more fully appreciate the composer's musical intentions. Audiences adore these spectacular evenings that showcase the talents
of such artists as Deborah Voigt, James Morris, Salvatore Licitra and Dmitri Hvorostovsky, to name only a few.
CHORAL CLASSICS
The majesty of Bach's Magnificat, the ecstasy of Brahms's Requiem, the drama of Britten's War Requiem—the core of
The Collegiate Chorale's repertoire includes history's best-loved oratorios, requiems and masses. And, as New York City's
virtuoso chorus, The Chorale excels in this repertoire.
SOLO RECITALS, SPECIAL EVENTS AND UNUSUAL GEMS
Great singing is uplifting! Each year we present some of
the brightest stars from the world of opera and the Broadway stage in solo recitals and special musical evenings. From
Bebe Neuwirth performing Kurt Weill to Salvatore Licitra singing about friends and lovers, the spirit of these events
is light-hearted and above all...fun!
OUTREACH & EDUCATION
We are deeply committed to outreach and educational activities that involve students from the New York City public high schools. The goal of these activities is to develop future audiences and bring the joy of singing to young people in our
community. Our Side-by-Side program offers high school students a priceless opportunity to participate in The Chorale's performances at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. Hundreds of free tickets to our concerts are distributed each year to school children. And, The Chorale collaborates often with the City's most active choruses for young singers such as the Brooklyn Youth Chorus.
